The night will be filled with stars. And that’s both in the literal and figurative sense. That’s because this Sunday, the 83rd Academy Awards will be held. Watch as your favorite stars walk on the red carpet. See them step on stage and be dazzled by their acting brilliance. It’s an event that you should miss. It’s not every day that something like this happens.
The 83rd Academy Awards, which is presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), is a special event that will honor the best films of 2010. The awarding ceremony will be held on February 27, 2011. The venue would be at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California. During this time, the AMPAS will present its annual Academy Awards (popularly known as the Oscars) in 24 different categories. The ceremony will be televised in the USA on the ABC Channel.
Actors James Franco and Anne Hathaway will co-host the ceremony. This will be the first time for both actors to be the hosts for the event. It is also interesting to note that Franco is also the first actor since 1973 to become the host of the Oscars in the same year that he was also nominated. The last time this happened, it was with Michael Caine in the 43rd Academy Awards for his performance in Sleuth. David Niven was the last actor to become the host, as well as the winner, of the award for his acting in Separate Tables in the 31st Academy Awards in 1959. Franco earned his nomination for his impressive acting performance as a trapped adventurer in the film 127 Hours.
Who do you think will be this year’s winners? There are plenty of nominees to choose from. Among the names that have earned the approval of the selection committee are Jeff Bridges, Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman, Annette Benning, and Natalie Portman. Inception, Black Swan, The Fighter, and Toy Story 3 are just some of the films that were also nominated for the awards.
It’s going to be an exciting Sunday night. This is the best thing to happen on television. You should never miss this.
