The lights are down low, the audience are quiet and the excitement is reaching fever pitch in the crowd on the 13th of September 2009 at the Radio City Music Hall just before 9pm ET, shortly before the curtain raises on this years 2009 MTV VMAs. Watch MTV Video Music Awards 2010 Live as this year's event promises to be as spectacular as past years, This years show is also a home coming event with the venue again being Manhattan, in New York City, home to the first VMA awards back in 1984.
The line up of artists performing is a who’s who in the music industry, ranging from American rockers Green Day, Pink, Jay-Z, Beyonce, rapper Wale, Alternative rockers Muse, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga among others. Trying to keep order or cause some mischief is the returning host for this years show, Russell Brand. Russell was the host of last years show and done such a wonderful job, he was invited back this year. The British Playboy will be as popular at the after show parties as he will be on the stage.
The creators of the VMA , the MTV music channel can be proud of what the event has become, with most of the music industry turning out regularly on the second weekend in September to honour the best artists and videos of the past year. It started out as alternative to the Grammies but now must rank up there as just as important to the artists since the awards are voted for by the fans.
One of the highlights of this year show could be a trailer for the new Twilight movie ‘New Moon’ Three of the cast’s stars, Robert Pattison, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, will be present to introduce the clip and also hear the first single from the film soundtrack ‘meet me on the equinox’ performed by Death Cab For Cutie.
All eyes this year will no doubt be on Britney Spears again. After a troublesome few years in the public spotlight, she has bounced back this year with her new album, ‘Circus’ and her tour named ‘The circus starring Britney’. The pop princess is in line for a couple of awards but will no doubt be grateful to be getting headlines for her musical talent.
